Hi friends, we are in dry weather where we can get uncomfortable with the way our skin reacts to it. The good news is there are tips here for you to carry on without bothering your mind on your skin state.
The body is made of more than 70% water, however, the moisture contained in these body cells can gradually deplete especially from the skin cells during dry weather. This can make the skin peel and be really irritating to persons involved especially to those with dry skin.
There are remedies you can adopt to maintain normal and healthy skin during dry weather:
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
This is an effective way to maintain body water composition. In addition, eating fruits and vegetables gives life to the body, one way through hydration of the body cells. In dry weather, you should make it a point of duty to take at least 2-3 liters of water daily (8-12 glasses daily).
Dry skin can result from the accumulation of thousands of dead skin cells each day. These dead cells are expected to sloughed off daily but many do not. This accumulation will eventually lead to dry and unhealthy skin. Exfoliation enables your skin to glow; in addition, the skin is able to hydrate better and shine. Experts have recommended at least twice a week exfoliation to enable the skin to get rid of the dead cells to show better luminosity. This is achieved by spending at least 2 minutes on each area gently rubbing and scrubbing in a circular motion.
An oil-based lotion moisturizer protects the skin layer and helps retain moisture better than a water-based moisturizer. Moisturize the skin immediately after your bath to help further maintain the dampness. Natural ingredients like lavender, aloe, honey work better on the skin with its soothing effect. Many lotions labeled as night creams are oil-based moisturizers.
You can make hydrating masks at home to help with much-needed moisture on your skin in dry weather. Natural ingredients like honey, avocado, yogurt, olive, almond oil, banana, and aloe vera are available for you to make your own skin masks. Mix your choice ingredients together and make a paste of it and leave it on the skin for 10-30 minutes for lasting hydration.
With one tablespoon each of honey and olive oil mixed together, add two teaspoons of lemon juice then beat in one egg yolk and apply on your face and allow to dry before rinsing.
Papaya Face Scrub
Mash a portion of ripe pawpaw, add 2 teaspoons of ground oatmeal and one teaspoon of sugar, and then mix to a thick paste. Rub into the skin for few minutes, leave to dry.
Cocoa Butter and Egg
Mix two tablespoons of cocoa butter, and one egg yolk, and then add two tablespoons of lemon juice. Rub on the skin for several minutes before washing off.
PROTECT YOUR SKIN AND FACE
Avoid wearing wet gloves and socks. Wet gloves and socks can irritate your skin and cause itching, cracking sores, or even eczema. Also, get used to wearing gloves and scarves to protect your skin. If your facial skin is uncomfortably dry, avoid harsh peels, masks, and alcohol-based toners; all these can shed vital oil from the face. However, the use of milk or mild-foaming cleanser, a toner devoid of alcohol, masks that are deeply hydrating (rather than clay-based which tend to draw moisture out of the face) are exceptionally effective.
I hope you will be able to take good care of your skin in this season of dry weather.
